[Research]
During my early stages of ideation and problem solving, I created a graphic to help guide my research and narrow down the problem I was aiming to solve.
My initial research explored how UI/UX design could create more empathetic responses to suicidal prompts on search engines and social media. I continued my research within search engines, social media, and clinical studies.
Before diving into the specifics of impulse control, it’s important to understand how the brain shapes our decision-making. The prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain responsible for reasoning and self-control, develops slowly. This is why teens and young adults often act on impulse. This background will help explain why my research focuses on ages 16-22 and what factors can influence impulsive behavior.
